3-ingredient spiced flatbreads

These easy flatbreads use just three storecupboard ingredients and can be whipped up in under 10 minutes. They're fried briefly until puffy and golden, and sprinkled with your favourite spices for a hit of flavour. Perfect for dunking in curries and tagines or scooping up creamy dips.

  1. Make the dough

In a large bowl, mix together 250g self-raising flour, 2 tbsp sunflower oil and 150ml water to make a soft dough. Lightly dust the work surface with flour.

  2. Roll out the dough

Divide the dough into 6 balls and leave to rest for 5 mins. Roll out each ball into a large circle (about 0.5cm thick).

  3. Fry the flatbreads

Place a fying pan over a medium heat. Brush the tops of each circle with a little oil to coat, then sprinkle with your favourite dried spices to add flavour (try chilli flakes or a mix such as dukkah). Fry the breads in the hot pan for 1 min each side until puffed, golden and cooked through.

  4. Serve

Allow to cool slightly before serving, drizzled with a little extra oil, if you like.
